Zoo/PhytoImage is an open-source, computer-assisted software system designed for the automated taxonomic identification, counting, and measurement of plankton samples from digital images. Developed primarily at the University of Mons to support the work of marine and freshwater ecologists, it addresses the traditionally labor-intensive process of manual microscopic plankton identification by using machine learning.
